HHC Alternative Break Grant

Applicants for this grant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher or a GPA of 3.7 or higher in their major.

Hutton IEP Scholarship

The Hutton Honors College (HHC) is the proud home of the Edward L. Hutton International Experiences Program (HIEP), which offers a scholarship and grant program for high-achieving IU-Bloomington undergraduate students seeking funding to go abroad for an academic reason. DO NOT APPLY IF YOU PLAN TO STUDY ABROAD - you can receive this grant only once and you will get more if you use it for study abroad.

HIEP Grant funding is open to any full-time undergraduate student at IU Bloomington and is made on a competitive basis. In general, any IU-Bloomington undergraduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or major GPA of 3.70 may apply. There is a preference for Hutton Honors College students and Hudson & Holland Scholars, and for students going abroad for a semester or a year.

HIEP Grant application deadlines:

  • Summer trips: Friday before Spring Break (Student applications due), Friday of Spring Break (Faculty recommendations due)
  • Fall semester & academic year: Friday before Spring Break (Student applications due), Friday of Spring Break (Faculty recommendations due)
  • Spring semester: Last Friday in October (Student applications due), First Friday in November (Faculty recommendations due)

How much do service trips cost?

Domestic trips range from $500-800, and international trips range from $2000-2500. This cost is all-inclusive, covering food, lodging, and travel.

How are service trips funded?

Funding for our service trips comes from a combination of participant fees, fundraising initiatives, and generous support from donors and sponsors who share our commitment to community service and experiential learning.

What scholarships are available?

We offer various scholarships to help students participate in our service trips. These are listed above. Scholarships aim to make our transformative experiences accessible to a wide range of participants.

When is the first payment due?

$300 is due at the placement party on 9/28 at 7 PM
