The Education branch of ABP ensures that ABP trips truly fulfill their service-learning mission—rather than serving as a form of tourism
What does the Education Branch do?
Trip Informationals: Education plans trip informational events in order to educate ABP trip participants and site leaders on the social issue associated with the trip—empowering them to create true change through their ABP experience
Discussion Packets: Education crafts packets used by site leaders to facilitate meaningful dialogue and reflection among trip participants during an ABP trip.
Newsletters: Education releases weekly (formerly biweekly) newsletters in order to spread knowledge on current events relating to social issues addressed by ABP. You can access all of ABP’s newsletters here.
Social Events: Education connects the ABP community by helping ABP’s outreach branch plan social events (e.g. Placement Party, Leaders Retreat, End-of-Year Event) to promote interaction between ABP members that participate in different trips.
ABP-wide Education Events: Education initiates organization-wide informative events such as our 2023 Prison Reform Speaker Event, featuring guest speakers from the Indiana Department of Corrections, IDOC Watch and New Leaf New Life. These events allow for continuous learning even following the conclusion of an ABP trip.

Note: Many of the 2023-34 trips cover the same social issues as the 2022-23 trips, but happen to be in different locations.
