The Education branch of ABP ensures that ABP trips truly fulfill their service-learning mission—rather than serving as a form of tourism
Be the Difference
While ABP trips only last 1 week, trip participants can still create genuine impact if they are educated and inspired enough to effectively assist partner organizations, are pushed to learn from the experience as well as one another, and are willing to continue the service at home with the new knowledge they’ve gained. Without the work of ABP’s Education Committee, none of these factors would be possible.
What does the Education Branch do?
Trip Participant Trainings: Education plans participant training events in order to educate ABP trip participants and site leaders on the social issue associated with the trip—empowering them to create true change through their ABP experience
Newsletters: Education releases biweekly (coming soon!) newsletters in order to spread knowledge on current events relating to social issues addressed by ABP. You can access all of ABP’s newsletters here.
Social Events: Education connects the ABP community by helping ABP’s outreach branch plan social events (e.g. Placement Party, Leaders Retreat, End-of-Year Event) to promote interaction between ABP members that participate in different trips.
ABP-wide Education Events: Education initiates organization-wide informative events such as our upcoming Wheeler Mission Volunteering Event in collaboration with Civic Leadership Development. These events allow for continuous learning even following the conclusion of an ABP trip.
