Poverty Simulation

  • Godfrey Hall Room 0035/0036 1275 East 10th Street Bloomington, IN, 47405 United States (map)

Poverty is a reality for many individuals and families. But unless you have experienced poverty, it is difficult to truly understand. The Poverty Simulation bridges that gap from misconception to understanding. The Simulation is an interactive immersion experience. It sensitizes participants to the realities of poverty. It is incredibly impactful and fun, and builds empathy and community. Our facilitator is Ron Duncan, Associate Director of the Subsistence Marketplace Initiative at Gies College of Business, University of Illinois. Ron has led the world’s leading experts in poverty alleviation through this eye-opening simulation, as well as numerous students, both undergraduate and graduate.
